- Curator's comments
- The Tietzes reported that Tozzi connected this drawing with the series in this album representing the 'Temptation of St. Antony' (nos. 1907-7-17- 42 to 74) and with a painting of the same subject by Domenico Tintoretto in the Harrach collection in Vienna. While the subject could be that of the 'Temptation of St. Antony', the style and composition is very different from the above mentioned drawings and there is certainly no connection between this drawing and the Harrach painting,
1907-7-17-1 to 90 is a so-called sketchbook, dismembered after its acquisition in 1907. A Title Page inscribed in brown ink is at the beginning of the series.
