- One of six drawings for this composition in the BM (See 1905,1110.36-38; 1905,1110.40; 1946,0713.441* and 1905,1110.44), for a list of other connected drawings see 1905,1110.8. The recto is an attentive study for the head of Daniel (See 1905,1110.37). 1905,1110.40 and 1905,1110.38 were part of the same sheet; the fragments of the verso, when joined together, show part of a composition known in its complete form from a copy (1940,0413.60).
See Popham, 'Catalogue of the Drawings of Parmigianino', Cambridge, 1971, No.238.
Alternative studies for the head of Daniel in the lions' den (see 1905,1110.36). 1905,1110.40 and 1905,1110.38 were part of the same sheet: the fragments on the verso, when joined together, show part of a composition known in its complete form from a copy (1940,0413.60).
