- The drawing reproduces an unknown study by Parmigianino for his etching of the subject.
This drawing is too weak to be anything but a copy, but it is of some interest in that it must reproduce an otherwise unknown study by Parmigianino for his etching of the subject, B. xvi, p. 7, 3. In a similar study at Chatsworth (797A) a copy of which, now in the collection of János Scholz, was etched by Rosaspina (Weigel 5426), the foremost shepherd bends down as in the etching.
