- One of a group of small horizontal Scottish views: see 1861,1012.2542. See also the related drawing in BM P&D (1904,0819.95), discussed by Robertson (no. 30). The annotation on this impression is based on the drawing. Sandby included the well in two other plates, one in a group of vertical Scottish views, the other an illustration to Ramsay's 'Gentle Shepherd'.
