- Curator's comments
- See J.Bonehill & S.Daniels, 'Paul Sandby: Picturing Britain', (London:Royal Academy of Arts, 2009) for further examples of Paul Sandby's interest in the woodyards in Windsor Great Park, cat no. 98 and 99. Similarly, this drawing demonstrates Sandby's deep affection towards the labourers who played a significant role, but were largely overlooked in the grand scheme of country estate life. Two views of the woodyard at Windsor were included in the list of works Sandby exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1793, possibly cat no.98 and 99 in 'Paul Sandby: Picturing Britain' catalogue.See also 1904,0819.97.
