The creation of Eve, an illustration to Genesis I and II from Holbein's 'Dance of Death' series, in a first edition (fol.A ii recto) of ' Historiarum veteris Instrumenti Icones ad vivum expressae' known as 'Icones' (1538); Adam asleep on the banks of a river with God pulling Eve from his side, surrounded by animals, with stars and the four winds above, c.1526

- The book contains ninety-one illustrations to the Old Testament; one woodcut on each page, with a brief caption and the chapter of the book lettered above each. The first four woodcuts of this edition, including this print of Eve, were designed for Holbein's Dance of Death series and cut by Lützelberger.
