- The statuary group, now in the Uffizi in Florence is a Roman copy after a lost bronze original of the third century B.C. showing the influence of Lysippos. It was found in 1853 in fragmentary state. The etching shows altogether five different views of the group, in reverse, after the group's reconstructions of the sixteenth century. This must mean that the group was exhibited as a freestanding sculpture. The etchings are after drawings by Neefs (1850,0810.671), Doncker (1850,0810.672), Doudijns (1850,0810.673-674) and Backer (1850,0810.675) of which none can now be traced, nor any intermediary drawing by De Bisschop himself. In his text De Bisschop states that the group is 'in hortis Mediceis' and translates this into Dutch as 'in den Hof van Medices'. The image was rotated 90º to left to fit page. The statue was depicted from five different angles, each on separate plate. For all five plates see: 1901,1022.2531.19-23.
