Curator's comments
For Ashbee's collections of prints intended for extra-illustration, see his biography. The run catalogued here contains miscellaneous impressions of illustrations to the 'Vicar of Wakefield'. Other sets of illustrations to this text from the Ashbee bequest are catalogued separately. The only edition found by Menard & Desenne is that of 1817, but the images of the book are different than the ones here; it is possible the book had different illustrations; or that this is a later edition.
