- Merlo lists Petrus Blomevenna, 'Vita sci brunonis' (c.1516), a 'Sermo de sco. brunone confessore initiatore ordis Carthusien.', as well as a clipping from a folio publication with the chapter title 'De origine Carthusianae religionis ...' as instances of the block's use.
The print was produced in acknowledgment of Bruno's beatification in 1514 (hence his depiction here with a halo composed of rays rather than a circle).
