- Curator's comments
- This drawing appears to be a pair with 'Love and Jealousy' (P&D 1900-7-17-63). Both were engraved by Charles Knight and published by William Dickinson 1 December 1786. John Riely considers that the original drawing for Knight's engraving is in the Huntingdon Art Gallery, and that the two drawings in the BM are copies after the engravings. See exh. 'Henry William Bunbury', Gainsborough's House, 1983, cat. nos.48, 49.
