- The preface to this 1900 edition explains that the publisher had managed to get hold of the original plates, and had had them reprinted by Charles Wittmann and coloured by Nervet, following as closely as possible the original edition of 1827, which was now unfindable. Each of the plates shows either an historical person, or a maid to such a person, and they run from the XIIth to the XVIIIth century.
The repint was published in parts, and the second part was registered under 1901,0611.164. The binding is supplied by the British Museum.
