- Curator's comments
- Lalauze worked on various editions of Molière's works and this plate could for instance have been etched for Paul Lacroix's 'Bibliographie molièresque' (A. fontaine, 1875) or 'The Dramatic Works of Molière rendered into English by Henri Van Laun' (Edinburgh: W. Paterson, 1875-76). Lalauze did a portrait and thirty-three etchings for the latter.
