- From a series of twenty-four plates including a title-page, a dedication page, and twenty-two plates engraved after the paintings executed by Le Sueur in 1645-48 and relating the story of St Bruno.
All plates were executed by François Chauveau or under his direction; plates 15 and 22 were engraved by Sebastien Le Clerc.
The attribution of the title-page has been disputed. Mariette, in his 'Notes Manuscrites', gives it to Sébastien Le Clerc while Mérot ('Eustache Le Sueur', Paris 2000, page 196) attributes the execution of the plate to Chauveau. Jombert, quoted by Préaud in the IFF volume cataloguing the work of Sébastien Le Clerc (No.297), explains that the title-page was first engraved by François Chauveau but that the copper plate was lost at the time of the latter's death (1676). As the series was still incomplete, Sébastien Le Clerc was asked to engrave a new title-page after the same design. However, the original plate was finally found, and it was decided that it would be used as the title of the series. Le Clerc's version was bought by Claude Auguste Berey who altered it and sold it as a pious image; it was later bought by Gaillard.
