The corresponding entry in the Resta MS reads: "N.N. Scolaro dì Taddeo, di cui Servi in Caprarola era della Terra di Caprarola". We do not know who this unspecified native of Caprarola and pupil of Taddeo Zuccaro may have been, but his identity - if indeed he ever existed - is of only academic interest, since the drawing is in fact a characteristic example of Federico Zuccaro, to whom it was attributed by Robinson. Its purpose is unknown, but the amorphous shorthand suggests a late date.
A weaker version, not by Federico himself, is in the Louvre (11338, traditionally attributed to Passignano).
