For other impressions and a counterproof, see F,4.143-144 and 1910,0212.362. For a later state re-worked by Basan see 1941,0327.11.34. This print was issued as a black and white facsimile by the British Museum in 'Reproductions of Prints in the British Museum', Third Series Part VI (Specimens of Etching by Rembrandt, Livens, and Bol), Published by the Trustees, in 1912 where it was number III and described there as 'Rembrandt.The Return of the Prodigal Son (1636)'; see 1912,0725.1.3 (Shelfmark 245*.b.35). The copper-plate is in the collection of the Museum het Rembrandthuis, Amsterdam.
