- Curator's comments
- Pauli reads the date as 1534, but the last digit is clearly a 9 - a date which acc. to Dodgson is also consistent with Beham's stylistic development.
The title-border was used for all six editions of Gobler's book, which appeared between 1542 and 1578. The blocks 1-2 and 7 were also reprinted in Vincenz Steinmeyer's, 'Neue Künstliche Figuren', Frankfurt 1620. Blocks 3-7 containing secular scenes on the theme of justice.
