- On the verso is an impression of the tone block of B.XII.107.3 (Venus and cupids, after Peruzzi).
See Naoko Takahatake, 'The chiaroscuro woodcut in Renaissance Italy', Los Angeles 2018, cat.7-9 and her entry for ALU.0950.1 on the 'Atlante delle Xilografie italiane del Rinascimento' website. She has identified two versions of the woodcut from different blocks, the later one being misdescribed by Bartsch as a second state. Both were cut by Ugo in collaboration with Peruzzi who supplied the design. No drawing by Peruzzi for this composition has survived. This is one of the two impressions of the later version in the BM, and was also printed by Ugo after 1520. For an impression of the first version and comment, see 1920,0512.22.
