Known as "The Approach of Doom"; a group of men and women (perhaps seven of them: five are clearly visible) huddled together at the right of the design; they appear to be standing on a rock or a grassy bank at the edge of the sea; they are lookingly intently to the left, but we cannot see what they see: the rest of the plate is covered with obscure cloudly shapes - including a white streak at the top left which may be accidental. c.1788

- Experimental relief etching. This is the only known impression of this print. For the related drawing by Robert Blake see reg. no. 1894,0612.16.
Essick gives the print a later date of c.1792 (see Essick 1983).
This plate was later recycled to make two of the plates in "The First Book of Urizen". See curatorial comment in reg. nos.1859,0625.58 and 1859,0625.70.
