- Curator's comments
- Architectural record of the Regensburg synagogue just prior to its destruction on 21 February 1519 in the course of a persecution of the Regensburg Jewish community that had started with the death of Emperor Maximilian the previous month. The medium of etching may have been chosen because of the need to quickly produce printed records of the event. See Landau and Parshall, 'Renaissance Print', New Haven & London 1994, pp. 337-39.
