Description
Souvenir libretto for Francesco Cavalli's opera Hipermestra, containing a frontispiece in which an allegorical female figure sits enthroned and crowned, with the Medici arms at her side and the Spanish royal coat of arms at upper left; further containing twelve large fold-out views of the opera's sets, and a fold-out view of the Teatro della Pergola seen from the stage (full details of each print given in the curator's comment); further containing dedicatory epistles, a list of roles and a full printed text of the libretto. 1658 Etching and letterpress, bound in gilt-stamped vellum
