The 'advertisement' is also written as though in engraved lettering, but on stone and states: 'This Work is intended to be continud in a series of numbers, not exceeding ten in all, to be published occasionally: - each number to contain four subjects. - Its object is to offer to the Public a pleasing selection from the works of the Artists of this Country and at the same time to promote the practice of Lithograpy. - The proprietors trust that as there has already been much improvement made in the course of preparing the different plates of this number (as will appear on observing the dates of the different subjects) their future exertions will enable them to shew specimens of Lithography equal if not superior to those of France and Germany'. Following this is a list of the Contents of No. 1. and 'Written on Stone by J. Netherclift 42 Rathbone Place.'.
