- Curator's comments
- The present drawing, along with the study for The Voyage (1893,0731.23) occurred respectively on the right and left of a third composition depicting the Victories of Ferdinand, set in a large architectural setting, which is reproduced on Plate 6 of Van Thulden's series (1884,0112.37). The present drawing probably served as an immediate basis for Van Thulden's etching of the subject (Plate 9; see for further comments 1884,0112.40). The original picture inserted into the Entry decoration is at Vienna.
