- The painting was purchased from the artist by Thomas Agnew & Sons on 27 April 1887. It was subsequently first exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, London in 1887 (no.25), and is now in the Lady Lever Art Gallery, Port Sunlight (LL3141). The print itself was exhibited at the same venue in 1891 (no.1703).
