- Curator's comments
- This fan is one of a group of 29 fans (Schreiber Mounted Fans nos. 296-324) with very similar sticks and colouring. The leaves appear to date from the first half of the 19th century, although they were evidently coloured and mounted towards the end of the c19th. One leaf (1892,1119.49*) is lettered with the name "S Springsguth" and it is possible that he was responsible for all of them.
