The 'Galerie du Palais Royal' includes twelve plates reproducing Rubens' History of Constantine, of which this is the twelfth; see 1855,0609.506.* for comment on Rubens' series. For another impression of this plate see also 1855,0609.517.
This plate was engraved after an oil sketch now in private collection in France, at the Château de Saint-Aubin-d'Ecroville.
