Cupid seen in profile, walking to the left with eyes closed, his arms outstretched in front of him; at right, the trunk of a tree, with a shield decorated with the head of Medusa, and a caducaeus propped against it; beyond, at left, the sea and a boat; this engraved composition is contained within a circular border; in the corners of the square frame encasing the circle are pyramids; the rest of the borders and text are letterpress; around the square is a faded and uneven margin; a running French title above; a French motto below the image, followed by four lines of French verse in Italic and a line that separates six lines of French and Latin commentary; the image and text are surrounded by a type-ornamental border.
