- Information label, Temporary Display in Room 90 April-Sept 2010: "In Moore's final painting, these women play the role of spectators and watch a string quartet comprised of classically attired men. The emphasis on heavy drapery often appears in Moore's work, and echoes that of Renaissance masters such as Botticelli. Sidney Colvin, an art critic and champion of Moore's work, donated this drawing to the British Museum in 1888 when Keeper of the Department of Prints and Drawings."
