Richardson's novel 'Pamela' was published in four volumes, described on their title page as 'Embelish'd with COPPER PLATES Design'd & Engrav'd by Mr. HAYMAN and Mr. GRAVELOT'. Gravelot was responsible for etching all of the plates and for the designs of 17 of them - the other 12 were designed by Hayman.
