Curator's comments
After the central panel of Rubens' triptych 'The Descent of the Cross' in the Cathedral of Antwerp (Rooses 307). A modello for the print is in the Cabinet du Dessins, Musée du Louvre, Paris. The plate was engraved in Mechelen by Hunin. Same composition as Vorsterman's engraving in reverse (Schneevoogt 49.342).
