Illustration from Sylvanus Morgan, 'The Sphere of Gentry' (London, William Leybourn for the author, 1661); a winged male, wearing breastplate and helmet, and holding a shield and a wand with a banner inscribed 'Cur Fletis Non est hic', stands over a serpent; to his left, a woman in mourning holds a handkerchief and kneels beside a tomb on which there are flowers, an image of a skull, and the inscriptions 'Res' and 'Hic ile'.
