- Although this drawing was acquired as 'by George Stubbs' and catalogued as by Stubbs by Laurence Binyon (LB1) it is now clear that it is copied from plate 1 of George Stubbs's 'Anatomy of the Muscles, etc, of the Horse', 1766. His working drawings and finished drawings for the prints, which were engraved by the artist, are now in the Royal Academy (see Judy Egerton,'George Stubbs, Painter, catalogue raisonné', Yale U P 2007, nos 7, 7A). The Prints and Drawings department has a copy of the publication.
