The register gives a brief single entry: "A collection of 1318 proofs of plates engraved by John Pye or under his direction for the Pocket-Books entitled 'The polite Repository', 'The Royal Repository' and 'The Souvenir'". The prints themselves have not been allocated individual sub-numbers, but have been mounted with each set of 13 illustrations (one for each month plus a larger frontispiece) on a single mount. The mounts have been placed in 4 solanders in the following sequence:
I and II: illustrations to Peacock's Polite Repository, or Pocket Companion, years 1822 to 1858
III: illustrations to Le Souvenir or Pocket Tablet, years 1822 to 1843
IV: illustrations to The Royal Repository, or Picturesque Pocket Diary, years 1817 to 1839

- Curator's comments
- A manuscript letter signed by John Pye is mounted at the beginning of the series: "London 7th Feb. 1858. Dear Walls, The plates from which the enclosed proofs were printed will, I believe, terminate my professional labours. If I mistake not, I have engraved the work during 45 years, and that you have the only set of proofs of the plates that is in existence. Yours ever, John Pye."
The plates to "Peacock's Polite Repository, or Pocket Companion" were all engraved by John Pye, and were after the following designers:
1813 to 1817: William Havell
1818 to 1828: R R Reinagle
1829: William Havell
1830: R R Reinagle
1831 to 1844: William Havell
1845 to 1847: unknown
1848 to 1852: William Walker
1853: C J W Russell
1854 to 1858: G F Sargent
The plates to "Le Souvenir or Pocket Tablet" were all engraved by John Pye, and were after George Cuitt, the younger.
The plates to "The Royal Repository, or Picturesque Pocket Diary" were engraved by John Pye or by James Lewis or Percy Heath who ere working under his direction. The identified designers were William Westall, Thomas Uwins, George Cuitt, J S and Samuel Prout, and Henry Gastineau.
