- Curator's comments
- The print has been attributed on stylistic grounds to Maria Cosway rather than Richard in spite of the name at lower right. Richard is known to have made only one print which is very different in style, while there are similarities with Maria's etchings, notably in the head of the nymph on the left. The original source in Rubens' work has not been identified. (S.O'Connell and Nick Knowles, 2 June 2016)
