- The separate note to this drawing is inscribed across the top 'William Capon delt 1783 Burned down June 1789 W L [?] pinxt. 1818.' This may indicate that this watercolour is by WL in 1818, after a drawing by William Capon of 1783. Opera singers mentioned in the note include Signor Ranzzini, Signora Carmi...li, whose husband is said to have set fire to the theatre, and Mr Slingsby.
