Description
'Journal de la navigation autour du globe de la Frégate la Thétis et de la Corvelle l'Espérance pendant les années 1824, 1825 et 1826. Publié par ordre du roi sous les auspices du départment de la marine par M. le Baron de Bougainville, capitaine de vaisseau, chevalier de Saint-Louis et de l'ordre des Cincinnati, commandant de la légion d'honneur, chef de l'espedition. Atlas' (Paris: Arthus Bertrand) 1837; containing 56 lithographs separated in sets, the first set of lithographs by Bernard and Frey after drawings from E.B. la Touanne showing landscapes and views; the second set showing hand-coloured etched figures and animals printed by N. Remond; and the third set of large etched maps by Ambroise Tardieu after la Touanne; one plate of hand-coloured etched ships by Tardieu after la Touanne and a large folded lithographed map of the world after L. Letronne. Together with vignette on title-page, and list of illustrations. Bound at the British Museum bindery in green leather, with gold lettering at the spine and marbled endpapers.
