- Curator's comments
- The following entry is taken from David Bindman, Shadow of the Guillotine: Britain and French Revolution, no. 214, exhibition, BM, 1989
From the same volume celebrating 'Nelson's Victories' as 1880,0214.303, it shows George III in a symbolic role as source of the prosperity and naval power of Britain at the end of the eighteenth century, identifying the monarchy completely with patriotism (see Colley 1984, p. 126f.).
