For comment on the series see 1925,1117.120. This is an undescribed state where the sitter does not match the engraved biography underneath: the depicted artist is Dirk Bout, while the text below refers to Bernaert van Orley. The print has been numbered "6" which is normally assigned in this series to the portrait of Bernaert van Orley, whereas Dirk Bouts is numbered "5".
