Title
Object:
The Adventurous Macaroni, or the Three Jolly Blades, the Esqr. Parson & Doctor
Description
Satire on rakish life: a fashionable man with a macaroni queue climbs up on a roof projecting over a shop (with shutters closed) reaching towards a young woman smiling at him from a first-floor window. He stands on the shoulder of a clergyman standing on the pavement with a dishevelled doctor, identified as such by the medicine bottles in his pocket; these two older men are clearly enjoying the escapade. A clock in the background shows that the time is 10.20. 29 August 1774 Mezzotint, buttons on the doctor's coat scratched for emphasis
