Plate XXIII: in the centre foreground an ornate three-tiered colonnaded building on a platform reached by steps (and centrally by a dragon motif carpet); inside it, the Emperor Qianlong and the principal lords of the Court are seen from behind, kneeling in front of a table covered with offerings; behind this edifice and separated from it by a wall with two gates, a circular domed building (containing the ashes), flanked by two ornate pavilions containing stones incised with events from the emperors' lives, surrounded by trees; guards present below the platform. 1788

- Description written on the basis of that lettered on the print. This also states that the Emperor reached the platform using the incline covered with a dragon carpet, pictured, while others used the steps.
For a description of the set, see 1877,0714.1505. This print was one of four (Plates, XXI, XXII, XXIII and XXIV) added to the set in 1788.
