Volume one of two. Issued in parts and later bound together at the BM bindery, the prints in these books entered the collection at various times and thus are registered variously. This is the main catalogue entry for Volume 1. For Volume 2, see 1877,1013.2392 to 2489. Brief entries have been created for the other registration numbers (1876,0708.949 to 958; 1878,0511.754 to 758; and 1878,0511.786 to 792).
1876,0708.870, Joseph kneeling with Potiphar's wife, after Guercino, is placed separately with French XVIII Unmounted Roy.
This volume is incomplete: pp. 65-72 of text are missing.
1878,0511.790 is etched by Normand fils after Lafitte ("Point de lendemain", showing a couple beholding a landscape with lake below).
