- Curator's comments
- The drawing was acquired as by 'De La Croix'; it is very uncertain which artist of this name was intended - probably not Eugène Delacroix. It was sold at Sotheby's 9 July 1875 lot 94 as 'De la Croix' (bt for BM) in a group of mostly German drawings. It looks eighteenth-century French, and might be related to the work of Charles Grenier de Lacroix de Marseille (1700-1782) (MRK)
