- The preface to the second edition of "Napoleon in exile, or, A voice from St. Helena" reads: "This edition has been carefully revised, a few verbal inaccuracies corrected, and a new engraving added of a drawing from the statue presented to me by Napoleon on my leaving St. Helena". O'Meara had been the personal physician of Napoleon on St Helena from 1816 to 1818.
