Allegory on the reign of Louis VII, in armour, listening to Abbot Suger, who is vainly trying to dissuade the King from taking part in the Crusade preached by St Bernard of Clairvaux who is standing at left; Prudence places her arm on the King's shoulder; at right, Eleanor of Aquitaine carrying tablets inscribed with the words 'Poitou' and 'Guyenne' (symbolising the territories returned to her u[on the annulment of her marriage to Louis VII), a man in armour, Envy, and another allegorical figure wearing a mask; at top, Victory hovering over the group; in ornate border, with portrait of Louis VII in circular medallion; illustration, page 146, for Hénault's 'Nouvel Abrégé chronologique de l'histoire de France' (Paris: Prault, 1768)
