Curator's comments
From a set of nine representing designs for various objects in metalwork, and attributed to either Boyvin or Milan after designs by Rosso Fiorentino or Thiry, see 1887-10-10-14-6 for comment.
It has been suggested that the object on the left is in fact for holding pepper. (James Grantham Turner via email on 14 March 2016).
