- Curator's comments
- This state of the plate was published by Francis West, with his 'Collection of Views of London and its environs', made up of plates from the stock of John Bowles and his successors. It was earlier published with the series 'London Described' in 1723-1724 (see Adams 29), and was republished over the years by Bowles and his successors, before being used by West in this mid-nineteenth century collection.
The view is taken from the larger plates in Sandford's book. For an impression from one of these plates see 1849,0315.107
