- Curator's comments
- This impression was published with Francis West's Collection of Views in c.1840. All of the plates in this series were those engraved for John Bowles in the mid-eighteenth century, and reissued by his successors over the years, and so by the time the plates were published by West they had deteriorated somewhat. The plate is first listed in the series of four plates 'The admired views at Richmond' in John Bowles' catalogue for 1749 p.34, and this plate is number 3.
