- This plate was first published with the series 'Vauxhall and Ranelagh Gardens', listed in John Bowles' catalogue for 1753 p. 46. The plate was reissued a number of times, including for Stow's Survey of 1754, before coming into the hands of Francis West in the mid-nineteenth century, whose 'Collection of Views' used the plates from the stock of John Bowles and his successors. By this stage the plates were not in good condition, which explains the poor impression.
For an impression published in Stow, see 1880,1113.2459
