Curator's comments
Date from published state (Cc,1.206). The original was bought by Mr. Vernon from Ireland's sale in 1801 (Nichols 1833, p.368). A later state with the plate reduced and artists' names added appeared as an illustration to volume I of Ireland's 'Graphic Illustrations of Hogarth' (1794). See Cc,2.212 for this state, and Cc,2.257 for comment on the book.
