Curator's comments
After the central panel of Rubens' triptych 'The Descent of the Cross' in the Cathedral of Antwerp (Rooses 307). A modello for the print is in the Cabinet du Dessins, Musée du Louvre, Paris. Same composition as Vorsterman's engraving in reverse (Schneevoogt 49.342).
