- Curator's comments
- Based on a painting which is now in the collection of the Museo del Prado (Inv. P00303); there are some differences between the latter and this plate (see the pedestal).
The design of the Madonna della Quercia is attributed to Raphael and it is believed Giulio Romano finished the painting (Lit.: Luitpold Dussler, 'Raphael: A Critical Catalogue', 1971, pages 50-51, pl.107; and Jürg Meyer zur Capellen, 'Raphael: A Critical Catalogue of His Paintings', vol. II, 2005, cat. No.65.)
